As some of you may or may not know, last March my brother and sister-in-law became parents to a set of twins.
Kris and Heather Wright gave birth to twins in late February 2012. This was very premature as their due dates weren't until May 2012 and both babies weighed just 2 pounds, 7 ounces at birth. Three weeks later, their daughter, my niece Nora passed away from an internal infection that antibiotics couldn't overcome. My nephew Colin is doing great and just had his first birthday in March. He is now more than 16 pounds and I currently am teaching him how to throw a baseball.(He cant walk but he can throw!! Good for a pitcher-get it?!.)
Kris, Heather, and Colin are representing the Charlottesville chapter of the March of Dimes this year as the organization's ambassador family to help raise awareness of premature birth.
After reflecting on what families and teams mean to us the girls decided to be a part of March for Babies again this year. We hope you will join our team!
Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. We're walking because we want to do something about this.
The money we raise will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care. Colin spent 10 weeks in the NICU so the Wright family understands how challenging that time is with a newborn.
Please join our team. You can do so on my team page. If you can't walk with us, please help the team reach our goal by making a donation. You can do that online as well.
