My Friday 5 Selections (16-14 on the year;3-2 last week)
College
VT -10 vs Duke
Way too big for the Hokies to cover when they are a one dimensional offense at best and have to show me a turnaround day on defense after last week. Duke always plays VT tough even in down years.
I think the Hokies win this game and get a “W” but they don’t cover the 10.Give me VT 30 Duke 24
UVA and Maryland is another coin flip game. Last week was a coin flip game as well vs Duke in my opinion and UVA ended up getting smashed and gashed in the 2nd half.
Maryland’s defense is good led by Brian Stewart’s new attack. Their offense struggles to protect the QB and put up points.
Virginia struggles to put up points and their defense is still allowing wayyyyy to many big plays which could be dangerous having to go up against Stephon Diggs.
I don’t know who to pick in this one but I am taking the under of 45.5
NFL
The Falcons get the Raiders to come East for a 1pm game and while Atlanta’s offense wasn’t working on all cylinders last week in the rain of Fed Ex, they are back in dome sweet dome, I will take the Falcons over the Raiders defense that’s allowing 31ppg.
Falcons -9
The Giants head to the West Coast to face the 49ers
The 49ers have demolished the Jets and the Bills the past two weeks. Giants had a little struggle with Cleveland last Sunday after losing to Philly on the Sunday the night before.
I think you throw all the past out the window and I think we get a game smash mouth game like we did last year in the NFC Championship game.
The Giants do deliver on the road. The 49ers have won 8 straight at home.
I am taking the Giants to keep it close .49ers to win but give me NY with the 6.5
And finally, Sunday Night Green Bay at Houston.
I think the Texans went through the motions and underestimated the Jets on Monday. They did get it together and they did get the road win and in the end that’s all that matters.
Now they come home, Sunday night, primetime game vs Green Bay-----and this was a sexy SB matchup in August. However in October and Green Bay has issues on defense and protecting Aaron Rodgers who has been sacked 21x.
Give me the Texans to cover the 3.5 and the Packers to go to 2-4.
