Looks like the Redskins got what (and where) they wanted.

See my original posting from 8/15 below.

Credit to the Times Dispatch as the first to officialy report the City, the Redskins and a possible sponsorship have agreed on the site off West Leigh Street/behind the Science Museum as the new 8 year home (hopefully longer) of Washington's training camp.

There is a press conference today and we will have the latest details coming up at 3pm.-WM

Blog Post from 8/15

"As I spoke on air yesterday about this, I have received some information that out of the four potential sites for Redskins Training Camp in Richmond

(Those sites are:*City Stadiun*Leigh Street behind the Science Museum*Virginia Union *SportsBackers)

The info I was told was that the Skins brass very much prefer the area on Leigh Street to redevelop and build multiple parallel fields in that area. This is the first choice of the Redskins right now.

According to Tammy Hawley of the Mayor's Office, no site has officially been picked but the info I got suggests the Skins are leaning heavily on the area right behind SVM which currently has nothing going on. The info I was given said the Skins would like the project completed by the end of April so I imagine work would have to begin immediately on the project.

I am still currently working on the details and to see if this can be confirmed. The Mayor's Office told me by the end of the month -mid September it will be clear to where the site is."
