As the college football weekend rolls on the Richmond Spiders (1-1) are in Lexington this weekend to take on the VMI Keydets (1-1). After the weather got out of the way last Sunday Richmond opened up their home season with a 41-8 beat down on Gardner-Webb. It was Danny Rocco's first win as the Spider's head coach and the team also saw career days from Quarterback John Laub (267 passing yards) and Kendall Gaskins (4 TDs, now 4th on the all-time career list). The game also feautred Running Back Jovan Smith run for 102 yards and Safety Cooper Taylor return from injury.

The focus is now a VMI team that does not have a good history with Richmond or Rocco. The Spiders have won 10 straight against the Keydets and coach Rocco was 6-0 against them while he was at Liberty. Also on the line is the Spider's streak against non-conference FCS opponents as they are 15-0 dating all back to 2005. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30pm at Alumni Memorial Field and check out RichmondSpiders.com to get live stats and updates.

I caught up with Spider's Fullback Kendall Gaskins and he talked about his career day, his thoughts on VMI, and Rocco's impact on the program. Click here to listen to our conversation.
