4 of the past 5 years at least 1 team has gone from worst in their division to first.(Redskins did it last year.)
Who will do it this year?????
The Pool of last place finishers from last season: Philadelphia, Detroit, TB/New Orleans/ Carolina 7-9, Arizona, Buffalo/Jets 6-10, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Kansas City
Best Bet #3- #1
#3 The Kansas City Chiefs- This seems to be everybody’s popular pick right now to turn it around because of Andy Reid and Alex Smith getting together. A breath of fresh air for Big Red and Alex Smith, he gets his chance at taking the reigns of a team.
This team has Jamal Charles (after surviving a scare yesterday), they have Dwayne Bowe…so they have weapons. There is some talent on KC.
They also play in a division, besides Denver where they can beat Oakland, they are better than San Diego, they will play games against Jax,Buffalo, they will get Dallas and the Giants at home, as well as Indy. KC has a pretty good set up to turn it around.
I don’t see them as a divisional leader but they have a shot at an AFC Wild Card.
#2 New Orleans- Sean Payton is back with Drew Brees and that goes along way and can it only make the league’s best statistical QB better. But the problem in New Orleans is and has been defense. Can Rob Ryan be the cure? He comes from the #25 defense in Dallas so this doesn’t scream HUGE FIX! But remember Dallas defense wasn’t all on him.
I like the Saints because they look to be better then TB, better then Carolina, and that means the division is decided between then and Atlanta.
I personally feel Atlanta is the better team but between the two, they have split last year and 2010 and swept the Falcons in 2009 and 2011. The Saints even in an average year can hold their own against the Falcons.
The division plays the NFC West and the the AFC East. The Falcons have to play the Packers. The Saints have to play the Bears.
There is a good chance these two duke it out in the division til the very end and that’s why I give them best chance to make a run at worst to first.
And finally, My #1 best for a team to make the turnaround from worst in a division to first……
I don’t see it this year. I have Atlanta winning the NFC South. KC can be WC worthy but I am not going against Denver when push comes to shove. The NFC North wont be a Green Bay runaway…Detroit will be better adding Reggie Bush but this team is still much of a mystery without consistency.
Arizona is the 4th best team in the NFC West,Buffalo and the Jets aren’t getting New England, and Cleveland and Jacksonville aren’t close. My best bet is Nobody makes the move from Worst in the Division to 1st.
